coming up this week.....so you can make plans NOV 3

The Sebastian Clambake Lagoon Festival is coming Nov. 3-5, and this year’s slogan is “America Runs on Clams,” submitted by Gina Belli of Roseland.
Fresh seafood booths, historic re-enactments, the Kid’s Zone, entertainment, the Press Journal’s Clammer Jam, featuring some of the area’s best bands; demonstrations, vendor booths and more, will again be the focus in Sebastian’s Riverview Park.
Hours of the festival are 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 3; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 4; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 5. Admission is free; tickets will be sold for food and T-shirts.
The Clammer Jam runs throughout the weekend, with live music by The Mixers, Danny Morris Band, Lost in Da Mail, Ladies of Soul, Wiley Nash Band, Soul Jam, and Beatle Guys.
Also performing are the Sebastian River High School Drumline, Brevard Equestrian Center, and the Sebastian Police K-9 Unit. As a special treat, Sebastian Muscle Cars will present a car show along the river on Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Sebastian Clambake, billed as a “lagoon festival,” celebrates the special way of life along the Indian River, which has been the life-blood of the community since the 1700s. The lagoon provides people with recreation, tranquil beauty and has been a source of food for the community for generations.
The Sebastian Clambake Foundation Inc., a nonprofit corporation, organizes the festival, and proceeds are dedicated to local non-profit capital projects. Volunteers from the community comprise the entire labor force. The foundation has granted more than $675,000 to local charities since the festival’s inception.

Family Meals hopes to help over 2,000 families enjoy a bountiful Thanksgiving

The season for gathering together, giving thanks is close at hand. In an effort to help families enjoy Thanksgiving dinners in their own homes, Family Meals’ Food Drive has begun.
Tight budgets and concerns about job stability keep holiday meals out of reach for many hard-working Treasure Coast residents. In response to economic challenges, Family Meals provides free, uncooked meal ingredients to help families prepare and enjoy a bountiful Thanksgiving meal together. The non-profit group encourages folks to develop a positive family routine of gathering around their tables, talking, laughing and enjoying each other’s company.

Family Meals’ volunteers educate families about the importance of sharing family meals by including table talk questions in the meal bags. They also share statistical information to show what a difference a simple family meal can make to the foundation of families.

STUART AIR SHOW NOV 3 -5

Over the three-day air show — Friday, Nov. 3 through Sunday, Nov. 5 — several exclusive and limited opportunities will put you in the pilot’s seat, when you reserve a thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime ride in one of the following aircraft:
• Cobra Attack Helicopter. Both standard (6-7 minutes) and extended (13-14 minute) flights available Saturday and Sunday.
• UH-1 Huey Helicopter. One of the most recognizable and iconic helicopters in history! Flights are 8-10 minutes; available Saturday and Sunday.
• T-6 Texan. Fly like the ‘aces of yester-year’ in this classic fighter- trainer of World War II. Flights are available Saturday and Sunday. Two ‘instructional’ flight options are also available: a pattern-only-flight, lasting for 15 minutes, and an aerobatic flight, lasting for 20-30 minutes.

Celebrate your “flight wings” with a VIP ticket upgrade.
Choose from special Spectator Seating ($8/day per person upgrade);
shaded seating in the Heineken Beer Garden includes two complimentary beers ($25/ day per person upgrade);
entry into the Florida Craft Beer Experience, with show-line seating and two complimentary craft beers, hosted by brewery representatives from Walking Tree and Tequesta Brewing Company ($25/day per person upgrade);
or access to the Bombers Squadron sponsored by CenterState Bank, providing great views of the action from show line seating, lunch, adult beverages and soda ($60/day per person upgrade).

The air show’s traditional Friday Night air show, complete with a crowdpleasing firework spectacular, sponsored by Ron Rowars, Trial Attorney, and twilight aerobatics is always a sellout.
Grab those tickets before they are gone to the show or treat your friends and family to show line Spectator Seating ($8 per person) or the highly popular TDBank sponsored Dirty Flight Suit Party, complete with a buffet dinner, complimentary beer and wine, live entertainment, and premier viewing for the night time flight action.
Besides toutiing the best seats in the house, at this “Top Gun” party, you’ll mix and mingle with the performers and pilots of the show, air show sponsors, supporters and other aviation aficionados.
Dirty Flight Suit Party tickets are $115 per person and include general admission to Friday Night’s air show.
Standard pre-purchase ticket options are $5 for veterans/military (military ID required) and children 6-12 (5 and under free), $15 for children 13+ and adults.
Tickets at the gate will be $25 (age 13+) and $5 for veterans/military (military ID required).
Premium parking is $20.

Stuart Air Show tickets for entry, Dirty Flight Suit Party, premium parking and upgraded options are available for purchase at Stuart Air Show.
