Pretty normal. Not like this all the time though. There are days you wish the breeze would kick up because the humidity is like a blanket. Some weeks there is a steady wind, sometimes during our rainy season you can have squalls with wind gusts that approach hurricane force.

So in short, yes it is normal, no it's not always like this.

There is a cold front that has come thru. The pressure gradient from the low is causing the wind. It will dissipate in a couple of days when it moves away.

Watch the local weather forecast on the news and you will realize that this is not typical.

Me and two co-workers were talking about this today. We all agreed that Austin is windier than it used to be. By a lot! We all loved here years ago, so we are not newcomers. One of them has been here before entire life.

Gotta chalk it up to global warming. Wind is the result of different types of weather fronts colliding. Global warming causes more fronts to develop and move faster. Austin is now like being in West Texas. Shame. What we've done to the planet. And wind is by far not the worst of it.

Can't sleep at night? Do you live in a tent? Can't imagine how you'd survive a 80mph gust in a thunderstorm in summer time if a 15mph wing bugs you.
