Port St. Lucie among best places to live, according to U.S. News & World Report

Quote:
Out of 125 cities across the United States, the Sunshine State nabbed 11 of the best places to live in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The highest ranking Florida city on the annual list is Melbourne, coming in at 29th; Port St. Lucie came in at No. 79.
Quote:
In February, the National Council on Home Safety and Security ranked Port St. Lucie the 12th safest city in Florida. Also in February, U.S. News ranked Florida 15th in its annual best states list.
Quote:
Port St. Lucie is nestled along Florida's Treasure Coast, along the state's southeast side, about halfway between Miami and Orlando. Port St. Lucie has a more relaxed atmosphere than its larger neighbors. Its clean streets and quiet neighborhoods are woven around scenic waterways and lush green golf courses. Homes in the area are affordable to buy or rent, especially compared with other South Florida housing markets. However, this may quickly change as Port St. Lucie's popularity rises and it readies for a major building boom over the next several years.

The St. Lucie River, a valuable resource to the community, is used by residents for boating and fishing. Recently, area waterways have seen a rise in occasional toxic algae blooms. Monitoring discharges into the river and storm water runoff has been the subject of much debate. New residents will want to keep an eye on the news in the warmer months to make sure waters are safe to enjoy.

Port St. Lucie's natural side is strengthened by its world-class amenities. The New York Mets play spring training games at Tradition Field, and Port St. Lucie is home to the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance, as well as an all-inclusive resort on the St. Lucie River, which is accessible to residents for dinner and entertainment.

actually no it doesn't. Ft Pierce might, but not Port St Lucie.

Ft Pierce is part of St Lucie County so when they are reporting county statistics we get grouped in with them, even though we are seperate.

and again CarolinaHopefuls - (who is looking to move to St Johns) just about anyplace has sex offenders someplace. That seems to be at the top of your list where you are looking to move. All you have to do is check the police departments map and look at it or put in a specific address. You can see information on each one including when and what for.

Nonsense written by people who have never lived in PSL. If they did, they would get the real picture of this place. These articles are total BS

You are correct. When I lived there, there was nothing to do except watch TV inside because of the sweltering heat 9 months of the year. No culture, no good dining, and no good shopping. I laugh when I see some of the ridiculous asking prices for houses in PGA village now. Waiting for the next housing crash which is coming with the next recession. I would never live there again.
