port st lucie
Just wondering about the people of port st lucie. WE are considering relocation to Florida, but do not want to be "foreigners" so to speak. What is itlike in PSL? Also Traditions looks great-anyone know about resales in those family type neighborhoods? We are looking for 3-4 bedroom 2-3 bath with 1900 sq foot minimum. Thanks!

What do you mean by "foreigners"? Some people think they are foreigners in Winter Springs, while I don't even feel like a foreigner in Weston. That's all about perception. Do you need complete homogeneity or is a little mix OK? PSL has a little bit of a mix of people, but still has a very solid "non foreign" majority.
Other than that, I can't really tell you anything as I haven't spent that much time there, but another poster should be able to chime in about the specifics.

If you're from NJ then you'll fit right in. I'm from MA and I feel like a foreigner in PSL.

I am from Louisiana, but used to live in Cape Coral and left for a better town for our child to grow up in. I like a slight mix, but in Cape Coral, almost every one there are Illegal immigrants! I just got tired of it. Here there are not too many (yet). Thanks for the replies.

If you think almost everyone in Cape Coral is an illegal immigrant, than you probably should (legally) move to Canada. No but really, I know what you are talking about and Lee County has an illegal immigration problem (although not so much Cape Coral!). PSL isn't really that much different from Cape Coral, just an east coast version. A lot of the dredges of South Florida (as in Dade, Broward, Palm Beach) seem to be moving there and kind of ruining the place (I say keep on moving there malcontents, it's only helping the bottom three improve). If you want to live on the east coast a great place to check out is Vero Beach. Very clean, very quiet, and still a lot like the old South Florida, free of waves of malcontents and there is still a little Southern hospitality left over which I enjoy. I like it a lot better than PSL. Granted, I don't live in PSL nor have I ever lived there, but I am just trying to speak from what I saw and know.

We went up to PSL last weekend. Found that there was bigger Hispanic community than we expected. However overall I think it is still pretty much a "Good ole boy" type of area. Not alot of ethnic types if that's what you mean. Lots of white bread if that's what you like.

One of my business partners lives in PSL. He said that half his neighbors are either from Brazil, Argentina, or Puerto Rico. But he doesn't mind because he says the women are really nice to look at

interesting that the answers are from people who DONT LIVE IN PORT ST LUCIE!
You think you can form an opinion of an entire area in just the small few miles you were in only over 48 hours- many of which you were alseep? Give us a break here please.
To the person with the question - I DO live here.. .and I DO live in Tradition myself.
I really like it here and there is an entirely diversified group of people here from all over the country- I should know since I also helped a few of them move here myself.
There are all ages and all ethnic backgrounds and eveybody gets along just fine.
I also CHOOSE to live in Tradition for that very reason- the ages are mixed, the homes are new, there are always things to do, people to meet. OR...I can sit on my patio and have a drink and watch the water birds out in back of my house.
You MAKE a place yours out of what you put in it.....not what other people THINK they see as they drive by....
