In Brevard, the place to be is VIERA!! We just relocated to Viera and really do love it here. Lots of families and affordable, nice & new neighborhoods. We used a realtor from Viera Realty when we moved here last June and she made things very easy for us. Her name is Lori Nartates and I am sure she would be happy to help you, as well and answer all your questions about the area. Viera is the up-and-coming area with the most to offer! They are building lots of great ammenities, but they are still in the planning stage so moving to this area now is still VERY affordable even though it is growing!

BTW...I am a native Floridian (born & raised) and still LOVE my state! Not many places to live where you can enjoy a beautiful day at the beach and come home with a nice tan in the middle of Dec or Jan! Sure there are crappy people in any state, but there is also a LOT of great reasons to live in Florida!! Lots of stuff to do in every season & every city! Athletics is big in Florida because you can always find fun ways to get fit in our beautiful outdoors. I grew up in the St. Pete/Clearwater area and that is a wonderful place to be, too! It will always be home to me and you can't beat the white powder-soft sandy beaches over there! However...I would advise that don't live near Miami (unless you speak spanish, are made of plastic, like sitting in horrific traffic jams, and truly enjoy the company of the world's rudest people, of course). That is the one place that i have lived in this beautiful state that just didn't sit well with me. I refer to Miami as the 'arm pit' of Florida, as it is trashy and smelly compared to everywhere else that has a fresh, layed-back, friendly beach vibe.

Back to Viera...yes, it is new so some of it does not have mature trees and some of it (especially west of I95) is very 'cookie cutter', but there are also many beautiful areas that are unique and full of trees! I live on a wooded preservation so there are lots of trees right out my back door that can never be cut down for building. My home was built in Tuscan style from JerJef builders. They do semi-custom homes so the neighborhoods don't become so 'cookie cutter' when you can make any changes to style/color/construction that you want. I am very happy with the Viera area even though my home is techniquly considered to be a part of Melbourne still. It is a wonderful area with the most to offer!

i am a local realtor living in Viera. Prior to Viera I lived on the barrier island for 27 years and loved it. If you would like additional info on Brevard County, send me an email and i'll be happy to get details to you. It's a great place to have a family grow up, or to retire to. Lots to do for everyone and much of it doesn't even require tickets!!!! gailpearson@cfl.rr.com

My friend is looking to move to Vero or Sebastian, the only experience I had with Fl was Spring Hill, which I did not like. but I have friends and relatives in Port Saint Lucie and Coral Springs and they love it! I heard the schools in Sebastian are top notch. Is that true?

I've lived in FL 20+ yrs, been in Vero 2. Sebastian is a very nice, safe, pretty suburb. I like Vero, lots of stores and still room for trees, a little bit more going on than in Sebastian, but since you have little kids, perhaps Sebastian would be better. I have heard from coworkers to not put your kids in the public school system in Vero Beach. Brevard County and also, Sebastian, things seem a little cheaper (Looking at housing and gas prices) and more family oriented than Vero. . I moved here from Englewood (Sarasota/Charlotte County) which is directly across the state, about 75 miles south of where you were looking in Hillsborough. Very good public schools there. Beautiful area, especially if you like fishing. But a long commute to get to the highway, which may not be a problem for you. Here on the east coast, hop and skip to the highway, at least in Vero.

Have you made your trip to Brevard County yet? I'm just wondering how it went for you and what you decided. Good luck.
