Well, I am not a realtor and let me tell you, Vero Beach is the place to be. If you move to Sebastian (a lovely town) you will constantly be in Vero Beach for shopping, restaurants, and doctors. Save gas... move to Vero!

I agree with this - my address is Vero Beach but I live by Sebastian High School so feels we are more in Sebastian. I do like Sebastian for a lot of reasons but do agree that I do more of my shopping there, my Doctor is there, My work is there (hospital!), my hairdresser is there, my dentist is there lol I could go on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default Hi Sue

So possibly Vero Beach IS the place to live....

Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........ live in Sebastian and use Vero Beach to shop etc.

Plenty of places do that... live in one place that is close to another place for all its ammenities

Besides Vero Beach,, how about further South to Fort Pierce, Jensen Beach ??

It will be a loooooooooooooong fact finding trip starting up in Viera and going down and maybe past Vero Beach,,, coming in June,,, need to designate where I will spend time

What is it you are looking for? Viera is a large treeless expanse way west of any beach. It has shopping and medical facilities, lots of housing, but you might as well be in the midwest. Sebastian has quaintness going for it and a nice small town feeling. Vero has a downtown (rather useless but it does have one) a mall and an outlet mall. It also has a great never-crowded beach, beautiful streets with oak trees and palms entwined, and lots of great subdivisions. Fort Pierce is junky with high crime.

Hey nothing wrong with being in a place like the midwest... but I know exactly what you meant, thanks

The sound of beautiful streets with oak trees and palms... so heavenly.
And I know what you mean about a place with a lot of houses and maybe no character.. I saw this all too well in the suburbs of Tampa... which we did not care for. But I feel we might need something more than a 'nice small town feeling' kinda a place. I had that Upstate NY. Might want a bit more now.

And Viera not being close to the beach is a-ok... we easily could live west of 1/A1A.. and closer to 95... we easily have no problem taking a 20-30 minute drive to the beach if need be... or ride our bikes.

I knew we have to simply get a 'feel' for the various places down there and will explore all around when there.

Dollar wise as I wrote previously.. we are looking to spend $300-$400K for a 4 bedroom home there. We do not want to be on top of our neighbors... would like some land,,, I have no problem using a riding mower every 2 weeks.. been there done that. An acre is great.. or give or take a bit.

We need to check out all the areas,, and then check out further same trip more exact ins and outs of some neighborhoods we like,,, and then see what homes are available, price range, taxes, insurance, flood insurance.

And speaking of that.. any feedback to what we can find in that price range in Vero Beach and cost of property tax and insurance etc.

We pay $4000/yr here.. and to me that is a-ok.. but I think I might be paying the same down there,,, for 1/2 the price of a house.. than I have here
