Default Rentals/SFH in stuart area

Hi, I am new to this site so please bare with me. We are moving to the stuart /jensen beach area very soon from the Keys.
We would prefer to rent a single family home. We liked Jensen beach and the port salerno/rocky point areas. Any sugestions for other similiar areas?
Do folks put out rental signs there as there do not seem to be many listings in the paper. We thought we had rented a townhome but the HOA did not like the fact that my car is 14 yrs old (though not in bad shape.) So we are back to square one. With the treat of Ike coming we would like to get out of here by this weekend. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Would consider condo or whatever but need to be able to move in the day we see it as we will have the rental truck with us.
thanks

Check out Craigslist, or Realtor.com rental listings.

You don't see many ads for rentals in the newspaper from private citizens on their property because it costs about $250.00 a month to advertise your property there.
