Holy Cow - so many Luddittes so little time....Nuclear power is clean, efficient and low cost..all the things we need...are the plants safe?...YES - if they were not then hundreds of thousands of people would be getting cancers, sores, etc. because millions of people live near these plants - so a relatively few folks experience something (hair loss, a sore, cancer even) and it must be the plant?... that does not pass for much critical thought! .. anyway don't fret enjoy the radiation and when you glow at night your family will be able to find you in the dark... :-)

MA power may be expensive, but it isn't because there is no nuclear power in the mix.
There are only TWO Nuclear Power Plants in MA and that is in Rowe, MA built in 1961 and Pilgrim built in 1972. The average life of a Nuclear Power Plant is 40 years at best. Rowe is shut down and Pilgrim is plagued with being a dirty plant and is also being shut down. I have worked there as a consultant and I can tell you first hand it is a dirty and dangerous plant waiting for an accident. It too has basically shut it's doors and only a waste storage facitlity. This leaves MA with none! (http://www.animatedsoftware.com/envi...kelist1.htm#MA) Watch you bill up there because it will be very high using coal and oil. The nuclear power you are getting now is from Seabrook, NH at a premium cost. The power we get here in PSL is from a FPL which is an owned and operated plant by FPL. They do not have to buy it from another "outside the grid" company. So my dear you do not know what you are talking about. Sorry for being blunt.

I am curious to see the cancer statistics as a whole. I grew up further south in Hallandale, but left in 78 to join the military. So many close friends and relatives have had breast cancer. But while growing up in South Florida in the 50's and 60's we where really dumb about chemicals as well. Heck as a Kid we used to ride in and out of the fog coming from the insecticide truck on our bikes.
