I have worked very near Turkey Point in Homestead for 6 years. I grew up in Oak Ridge Tn. I can tell you that other than getting older I can't see any other results from living near the plants. I just bought a home in PSL and did not consider it. Besides wouldn't it be better to be vaporized immediately than lie in bed suffering the affects of the fall out for months and even years if there was an accident? Believe me as someone who grew up around this stuff I can tell you the people who design these plants don't cut corners. Not like refinery owners or chemichal plant owners who's main goal is proffit. You can't name one accident in this country where anyone ever got sick or died from one of these plants. There is no data anywhere showing anything happening to anyone living near these plants. "Life is short. Live dangerously."

What was three mile island? I think there is some data to support the impact elderly, infants and I b believe recently some thyroid related information.

I do agree though ... I'd rather be vaporized instantly.

Re Oak Ridge - have family there. ... visited years ago ... the signs in the creeks to not let your pets drink the water etc freaked me out!! Seriously!

I saw a documentary about 3 mile island about a year ago and the study of the local population showed there was no link from any illnesses caused by the accident. Yeah hunters have to bring deer to giger counter stations to have them scanned in Oak Ridge but again no local population illnesses have been related to any of the plants. They stopped dumping in the ponds years ago but there is still some contamination.
