Default Okeechobee Seniors - Help Please

I have a senior freind that lives in Okeechobee and is unable to find any "senior services" except for the housebound. My friend is not house bound, but she will be soon if she can't find an affordable excercise program in Okeechobee.

We called Senior Services and they said there is no such program in Okee. There also is no YMCA. My friend also cannot afford to drive Ft. Pierce everyday AND pay a personal trainer. She is in need of a person or a program that can get her started on a senior exercise program that can teach her how to stay active and fight muscle atrophy.

I am hoping someone here can help. 4 months ago this 71 y/o lady was riding her horse 8 miles thru the woods. She still cares for 3 horses by herself, but her strength is starting to leave her at an alarming rate and she has become afraid to ride.

Thanks in advance. Lisa

Hello,

I found this website while searching Independent Living for Seniors. Perhaps call the nearest to get further information and assistance.

Thanks 2 Goldens. That site seems to be more for people with disabilities. I did find an Okeechobee number and it is worth calling in the AM. My friend does not have any disabilities, she is just slowing down too fast.
Thanks again, every bit of info helps.
