Best jobs for the area
The most time I have spent in the Treasure Coast area has been in Stuart (grandparents live there). The more I read on here, the more I realize that Martin County has a lot going for it and could be in the running for one of the hidden gems/best places to start a family. Does this sound accurate?
I commute 35 miles per day to my job in Information Technology, and while I enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle, I would prefer a shorter commute, however this looks increasingly unlikely in Martin County as well as many other areas within Florida. Other priorities include excellent public schools, housing available below $200k (wouldn't be for a few years, and I would be considering a fixer upper for this price in this area, I know..), low taxes but as close to beaches/inter coastal as possible.
Is this scenario realistic for in this area, or am I way off/do other areas stand out as better choices? All opinions are welcome here....thanks.

last time I checked Martin county taxes were higher than SLC, but I could be wrong. Schools are good in Martin county, I just think its kinda crowded but PSL turned into that too after time.

Property taxes are a bit on the high side, but it is a buyer's market in the housing industry right now. St. Lucie or Martin either one is going to give you what you are looking for - except maybe the taxes.

Martin County is nicer, I think, but there are no jobs around right now.

IT jobs are kinda tight down here now like everywhere else.
Like everyone is saying have a job before you come down, know how much you are going to be paying for your taxes, your car insurance, and food, all const more here in good old florida.

Hi, my husbands job has brought us to Stuart, Fl. We are stoked to live there, but I'm a little worried that I may not be able to find a teaching job in the county. Do you know if things will turn around for the 09-10 school year? Any info would help tremendously! Thanks.
