We looked at the same areas when we moved down here
I would not move into Palm City at this point. Too many other homes for sale.
Sewalls point is a good choice.
Pinecrest is a nice neighborhood for the most part. and there are some nice homes for sale and it is a safe neighborhood.
As for us, I would say, stay as close to the beaches as possible, and in the best school systems. This is what people look for when moving to Florida.
St Lucie West and Traditions are new areas and nice, and have easy access the the interstates, but its a long way to the water and there are alot of bank owned homes there. Also its St Lucie county schools.
Have your realtors look in the North River Shores area,
You might also want to look on the south side of Stuart in the Hobe Sound area.

Again, very helpful - thank you.

So the theme here seems to be that Sewalls Point is the best choice of the 3, and Palm City is okay as long as you find the "right" subdivision.

I am also interested in your thoughts on schools - I'd love specific names - Felix? Bessey? What do you guys think?

Additionally - what are your thoughts on canal-access homes? A spacious home in a good family-friendly neighborhood is key for us, but we might sacrifice a bit of house/yard for canal-access...

Palm City is ''more" kid friendly... IMO. Local Schools, nice parks... kid friendly. I do not know of any schools actually in Sewells Pt.

Can't go wrong with any of the Palm City schools. Although my son went to Jensen Beach Elementary and loved it (also A rated). Pinecrest Lakes is nice, there are great areas in Palm City and Sewall's Point is very nice. All great areas IMO. Good Luck.

Have you guys heard anything about the Castle Hill part of N Sewalls point? Basically we are trying to figure out whether it is worth the higher price tag to live in S or N Sewalls Point... or whether we would be happy in Palm City

Also, any thoughts on how the real estate market is doing in Martin county? Most affected areas/neighborhoods?

South Sewalls Point is nicer. It's more of a town and not a subdivision. Castle Hill is a subdivision.

The market in Martin County is down like everywhere. It's down across the board. Check out Zillow.

You need to go to the areas that interest you, and then get out, and knock on some doors and talk tot he neighbors. That is the best way to find out about a neighborhood. There is only so much an internet website can do for you. You would be well advised to rent for a bit and see what area you like best.
