Sewalls Point, Pinecrest or Palm City
My husband and I are moving to the Martin county area and have been looking for a house. We are working with a local realtor. She showed us homes in Sewalls Point and the Pinecrest development in Jensen Beach. This was based on our desire to be in a established, family-friendly neighborhood.
We know we could get more house for the money in Palm City money - so she has also sent us a few listings from that area.
Could someone perhaps give us a summary of each area / compare these locations? It would be very, very much appreciated.
Also, I work from home and my husband's work is near Stuart's down town area. We don't need to be on the water or near a golf course - though it seems so many houses offer those options!

Sewalls Point is nice. It's an incorporated city in Martin County. Very nice, expensive, but quiet and nice. Sewalls point has not shopping-meaning no grocery store, drugstore, etc. You have to go in to Stuart or to Hutchinson Island. Granted, it's just over a bridge, so it's not far.
Pinecrest Lakes is not a town. It's a subdivision in Jensen Beach. It's nice, of course. You have the mall, in Jensen.
All three areas are just a couple of miles from Stuart, so any would suffice.
Palm City is unincorporated Martin County, but in reality is a suburb of Stuart. Palm City has grocery tores, drugstores, and all that kind of thing. Palm City has easy access to I-95 and the Turnpike.
Houses in Palm City can vary, since it's such a large area. There are very expensive houses and less expensive houses. If you want a house like the Pinecrest subdivision, you can easily find that in one of the subdivisions in Palm City.

Hmmm.... all I know is that I'd live in Sewall's Point in a heartbeat. Beautiful area. VERY aggressive cops, however, so watch the speeding!

Thank you!
What if I told you that we were a young couple, and were going to start a family in the next few years. I have heard all / nearly all Martin area schools are A rated, but which do you think is THE BEST elem. school/middle?

They are all pretty good. Palm City has good elementary schools.

Interesting. Thank you.
Can you be more specific perhaps? Bessey? Felix?
Would you rather have a slightly smaller home in sewalls point or pinecrest, or would you you rather have a slightly bigger - possible canal access - in Palm City?

Pinecrest is completely different from Sewalls Point or Palm City. Pinecrest is only a subdivision in Jensen Beach. I don't love Jensen. Too much growth -the all and all the big box stores. Nothing like it used to be.
Sewalls Point is very nice. Palm City is nice. Take you pick.

If I could choose between the three, I would pick Seweall's Point. It really is a nice established beautiful area and I suspect the houses would better keep their value for being there. Until about 4 months ago I was in Jensen Park Estates, very close to Pinecrest. Pinecrest was very nice but Sewall's Point has the most character of the three. Some of the "older" parts of PAlm City have some character but my guess what you may have been seeing are some of the developments on MArtin Downs Blvd and elsewhere. Persoanlly I find those developments a bit creepy. However, one pluc that some of Palm City (but not all) has over both Sewall's Point and Pinecrest is that they are out of the hurricane evacuation zone. Afte rliving there through 2004 and 2005, not a small thing to consider.

wow - that is exactly the kind of info we need - THANK YOU!! And keep it coming
I agree about the "creepy" palm city neighborhoods - so many of the houses look the same, and are built right next to one another - and next to highways/big roads. Not our taste - but maybe there is a specific "established" (i.e. older, larger lots) subdivision in Palm City that would work?
This site is great - and I really would love ANY info you guys can provide about the area. The more detailed, the better! We are orignally from FL's west coat, yet it seems there is so much to learn about the estern side ...

In Palm City, look at Danforth, look at Martin Downs, look at the area around Mapp Road near the river, look at Four Rivers, look at Canoe Creek. All nice family areas
