I am thinking about Buying a home in Stuart and have some questions. Is it a retirement community or is there a lot to do there? Is there a small town feel? What areas are good close by?

We live in Stuart & it does have it's share of retirees, but also it's share of younger people also!! A good mix we think!!

As far as "a lot to do"....that's always relative to what the party asking is interested in. Stuart does have a "small-town" feel to it in the downtown area, but also all the conveniences & shopping are within a compact area & the beach is close.

It is a relatively quiet area, but Palm Beach is a short drive where you can go to museums, concerts, plays, etc. if you're into culture & those types of activities.

Just make sure the house you end up with is hurricane-resistant & not in a flood-zone as you can see from this year's season. That would be a priority to me....strong house & good location!!

If you have any more definitive questions, feel free to PM me!!

Have you been to Stuart? You should rent for a bit before you buy. It is most definitely NOT a retirement community.

I lived in Stuart for 3 years and couldn't wait to move. Heavily populated with snowbirds, the beaches aren't that great unless you go to Juno. What are your interests and age bracket?

That's not true at all. Stuart is definitely a year round area.

i am glad to hear this, m5...we are moving there in a month and are renting in stuart (for now, we might buy eventually if we decide to stay permanently) and my father is upset we chose stuart over palm city. We homeschool, so school district isn't an issue, and I liked the convenience of everything in stuart--just 5 minutes to get to the winn dixie, the Y, the CVS....so I am hoping that there are kids in the area my sons can play with.
