Runswithscissors are you a Real Estate agent selling on this site? Not to offend you but I thought this was not a commercial site? Sorry if I am wrong.

LOL no offense, no not at all an agent. And yes, it's against the TOS to advertise anything including your business. But it isn't against the TOS to show people different things as examples.

In fact you can read my drama about moving here since last spring when I was complaining about real estate agents shafting me LOL.

I've lived in FL off and on since 1962 and several months per year for a couple decades and even I had trouble relocating here.

I just am very satisfied with my decision here after searching for a year. It took me 6 months just to get a rental and before that some dirt bag scammed me 2400.00 on his property.

I feel if someone else has to go through it it's no trouble helping them. YOu can really have a major headache and major mistakes moving blind or even moving after just a few visits.

I worked my way up from Broward to Vero because of that.

If you look, I also know about WPB and gave advise there since my son was a renter downtown. All you had to do was read my previous posts especially my first one to see I am far from a realtor.

AND BTW if you REALLY meant "sorry if I'm wrong" you would have DM'd me instead of publicly accusing me (and appearing foolish).

Ok, that is what I thought. I was just wondering. Everyone appreicates good help. You can't get that here in Miami. People become suspicious of your motives if you try to help someone. I guess I get caught up in that but should know better being that I am originally from Tennessee where people are more friendly.

Well, I'm from Kentucky and people are (usually) friendly. I've not had many BAD experiences in Florida (save for the far, far south and near big metros), so I'm hoping my Kentucky lifestyle can simply continue somewhere a little bit warmer.

Now... does anybody know of ANY areas that would have dog friendly beaches? I mean somewhere where I could let her off her leash to frolic, fetch, swim, etc... any ideas? As I've said before, I'm looking near Vero/Sebastian or Port Orange/Edgewater preferably. Anywhere along the Atlantic coast from St. Augustine to Stuart would be OK. Thanks!

We have such amazing friends and neighbors in Ohio. Our hope is to be as blessed in FLA as we are here. There are good people everywhere. Keep your chin up and remember, never let them see you sweat

Well...I did some research.....and I have to tell you about 2 different sides to it all (the "official and unofficial version )
Basically, the way it's to be understood, some beaches here in FL do allow dogs....but all on lead (except for the Lovers Key, where it states that the dogs are allowed to run off lead)

BUT, since I am a dog owner myself, I can assure you, that there are little "loopholes" to the system (like there always seems to be...LOL )
Locals can tell you, if there are deserted and "tucked" away stretches of beach....so isolated, and quiet.....that you COULD take your dog/s there, and let them run and swim !
BUT, really....the "LOCALS" have to spill that "secret" little spot !
Since I live in Sebastian, and I am only familiar with this area.... all the way down to Hobe Sound and Jupiter, I wouldn't be a reliable source or much of a help to you concerning the areas you have mentioned. Sorry

Here is my suggestion.....go into the proper forum, covering the area you are inquiring about, and start a thread, posting your specific question.
I'll bet ya anything, that there are locals willing to give you the "heads up" on things. (It happens on CD all the time...LOL)

I have found, that it is quiet tricky here in FL to find a spot where you will be able to let your dog/s go on a run...off lead.
It's just a different area....
When we lived up in Pennsylvania, there was wide open fields, woods stretching for miles, and the dogs were able to run for days.
Down here.....there are developments, swamps with alligators and wetlands.
So, it's not that easy down here in FL, that's for sure.
Sure hope and wish you will find, what you are looking for.

Thanks again for your help, MB2. Are there any of these "remote" places around Sebastian/Vero that I would be able to talk my sweet labbie to? She really loves the lake; I'd love to see her at the ocean... I'm assuming by what I'm hearing the around the Sebastian Inlet State Park would be a no-go; is that right?

I know the feeling about the "confinement" as well. Where I live now is really rural with lots of room - I know that we more than likely won't have that (though just browsing realtor.com I found a nice house in Sebastian with over a 1/2 acre lot, 100x180 something - that's bigger than our lot right now!). We keep her put up most of the time, as she doesn't have a lot of sense and likes to run in traffic if we don't, so whenever (and wherever) she's running, she'll be supervised.

It would be my goal to find a home with at least a 1/3 acre lot. I know that's a little idealistic, but its not impossible. I'm OK with paying more for less (in terms of house) to have that lot, too. Its not just for the dog, too - we want a motorcycle, a pool, and a boat, too. Yeah, yeah.. pie in the sky, I know... but that's what dreams are for, right?

Does ANYBODY know of any off-leash friendly beaches where I could take my lab? Doesn't matter to me if its secluded/out of the way... that's actually better, I guess.

I just had an argument with someone who can't understand why my neighbor's barking dogs are forcing me out of my home. It's insane. Why would I complain if it wasn't bothering me..because I enjoy complaining? Since dogs have been mentioned so much on this thread, I thought I'd ask if it's common to tie dogs outside 24/7 in Sebastian and if barking is a common problem. I love animals, especially dogs, but I need to sleep at least a few hours, and I enjoy watching TV, reading and just plain chillin' without listening to barking.
