PSouth, thanks for all the stats concerning crime. We live north of Columbus OH and have our fair share. All of our kids have "left the nest" so to speak. And yes, our new digs has an alarm system.
Do you by chance know of any good mexican restaurants in the area? We have one here and will miss it terribly. thanks for the help.

Yes Columbus isn't so great being the biggest city in OH. You have to be careful everywhere but don't forget about all the transients in Florida. It is worlds away from OH. You have to treat people differently here until you really get to know them. Midwesterners are different. Just be very careful especially at first.

thanks psouth. yes, midwesterns are differnt. A good different. As is Florida. My husband and I have "been around the block" per say. So we know what to watch for.
Anyway, any good ideas on restaurants in the area or fun things to do? Some of that kind of info is important to us too We love a good Margarita so keep that in mind.

Thanks to psouth for forcing me to put on my systems analyst hat on and resolving the mystery of the high sex offender ratio reported on cd.
CD is using the wrong population count.
They are using the city proper population of 17000 but the MSA sex offender count including Gifford and unincorporated VB. The county/MSA is a population of 132,000. The city with 17000 is only one zip code but they include 10 other zips attributed to the count.
Here's the thread. The Vero ratio is listed as 150:1 in error.
The MSA is more like 850:1 LOL. The official MSA/Vero Beach city boundary map is on the link. Only the area in blue is the actual city with 17000. You will see Gifford, and all West and North unincorporated VB outside the blue, a huge area. There are about 33 of the 114 offenders in Gifford ALONE on the Florida FDLE site.
32966 alone has a population of 13000 that was omitted from the count.
The info was provided to the admins.

Floridaorbust, welcome! My family is from OH and I don't think we are all that diferent down here. My sis moved back to OH a few years ago and she hates its. She is terribly homesick for FL As for margarita's the best to be found on the Treasure Coast, hands down, are made in my barn anytime by special request

I know another guy who moved back to OH from WPB a few months ago. He is very miserable even though he is from there and his whole family is there. Then again he was unhappy in Florida also. The grass is always greener as they say. The best reason to move is for job purposes. He is retired though.

thanks J.R. I make a pretty good Margarita as well. Sounds like a competition is underway
Don't get me wrong, we do love the midwest area. We have been talking about this for years. Now was the right time. Plus it doesn't snow in FLA. As for work, my husband can work from anywhere. Myself, will be looking for some type of work. Its out there. May not be my "dream" job, but such is life.
Thanks again.

After you get settled try the Margaritas in SouthBeach....WOW! We call the display "The Wall of Liquour" Lots of color and the frozen Margaritas are kinda high in price but oh so good.
My wife and our friends sit on the sidewalk which is used as a prominade and watch the people as if it were a boardwalk....hahahahahaha Great stuff to see. We always see basketball and baseball players riding in those Bentleys with the top down and so many wanna bees....Aftah downing 2 of those 20 oz. large Mararitas who cares......Life in Florida is a beach...hahahahaha

Sharpen your lawnmower blades and maybe you'll bring us good luck and we'll get some rain. It's been many many weeks. Maybe a couple of months actually. Like February or so.
