Norma, can't help you on the church. But Port St. Lucie only has one hospital and it is on US #1 - HCA Medical Center.

J. R. You are a very kindhearted person. Thank you. I called yesterday and I got the information about the church which is less than a mile from where I will be living. Thanks again.

Is that just another name for Saint Mary's Hospital?

There has been talk that the same company that owns Martin Memorial wants to open a hospital out in Western PSL, near Tradition, but HCA (which owns St. Lucie Medical) is fighting the proposition.

Martin Memorial does have an off-site emergency facility in St. Lucie West, however:

Apparently, Martin Memorial is still going to try to build a hospital in Tradition *someday*..... we'll see how it shakes out.

Yes, I was reading up on Port St. Lucie and I saw where they were talking about building the hospital. I thought based on the approval which they have received that the hospital would have started already.

In the past, every year, both HCA and Martin Memorial sent in their applications to open a hospital at the west side of St. Lucie County. HCA (St. Lucie Medical Center and Lawnwood Medical Center) has served St. Lucie County for many years so they feel that they should be approved. However, Martin Memorial was able to manipulate the county‘s political system and won an approval last year. Therefore, HCA challenged the decision.
