I just moved to vero and the only bakery is a cupcake place. I have been to Fresh Market, Publix, etc. Pretty sad...we moved here from AZ and the bread was amazing there but sadly lacking here. No one knows how to make good sourdough!

I agree. we sure do miss the old style bakeries. everything is either frozen or a partial bake.
same goes for a good meat market. and ethnic foods.

If you can't find a bakery, Publix is the place to go.
As for meat....do they have a Petty's like the one in Melbourne? If not Publix has meat cutters and is fresher than a lot of the chains.

Publix will do when there is no other bread. Their sourdough tastes like plain white bread. I am talking about good artisian bread. Fresh market is slightly better than Publix, but not what we are used to in AZ.

A good place for a bakery in Vero Beach would be the Miracle Mile Shopping Center on 21st Street west of Rt. 1. There are some empty spots there.

Default Meat Markets

I'd sure love to find a good meat market in the PSL/Ft. Pierce/Stuart area. Publix meat just isn't doing it for me.

OMG!! PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! Open a good NY style bakery in Stuart!!! The only "bakery" (besides Publix/Winn-Dixie/etc) we have is Moderator cut: I can't leave any consumer complaints or negativity towards a business. & they're horrible!! Everybody we know here keeps wishing for a good bakery to patronize!!!

At Xmas I figured I'd give Moderator cut: XXXX one FINAL try & ordered an old fashioned Yule Log Cake (remember the ones w/the cherry filling & chocolate whipped cream?

I paid dearly for it, served it at Xmas dinner & everyone spit it out!! The "whipped cream" was buttercream that tasted like dyed lard (no taste actually...just grease), no filling except for the same "whipped cream"....it was disgusting!!

We've tried them again & again & have always been disappointed...

A good NY style bakery in the Stuart area would make a KILLING!!! The closest good bakery is in western PSL & a 45 min drive each way...
