Default Cats in tradition?

We are considering moving our family to tradition. We have an indoor/outdoor cat who would be miserable if she was stuck inside all the time. I worry that if we lived there she might not be able to go outside... does anyone who lives in tradition happen to know if people let their cats out? does it bother anyone?

Cats get killed by animals, insects, poisons and cars. Outdoor cats live short lives.

Outdoor cats kill birds and other animals. They poop in neighbors yards. There are probably some rules in the HOA about letting your animals run wild.

Cats should be kept indoors. Do anthropomorphize them. They are perfectly content to live indoors.

I live in Tradition and can tell you that even though you want your cat to go outdoors, its a risk.

I have 2 cats myself and they are not allowed out unless I sit on the back porch with them. Even when they are out, they beg to get back inside after a short time. Believe me....they don't feel miserable at all. Big babies! LOL!

Others will think yours is a stray and might have it picked up.

Or the gators might get it or one of the many hawks that roam that area. More than likely it will ge a parasite of some kind and suffer horribly. Would you want to live like that? Why would anyone want to do that to a cat. And I hate cats.

I agree. (although I love cats) We have a lot of predatory birds in the area that catch/eat small mammals. I'm currently living in Vero Beach and I was surprised to learn there are wild pigs in the area. Although raccoons usually get along with cats, they can become aggressive when they're hungry or protecting their young. I've seen a lot of raccoons lately.

I don't live in tradition, but i live near by, i have a cat and i don't let him go out, he can get anything ( fleas, parasites etc ) from the others animals ( racoons, rabits, other cats ), Besides that i saw hawks around the area, or maybe a snake can get him, i don't know how other people let their cats go outside and after that they let him in the house bringing anything from outside.

I always loved when a neighbor had their cat outside. Our flower beds would stink of the cat urine. Not a cat person to say the least. Do your neighbors a favor, keep the cat in your home. Not in the neighborhoods backyard.

If you had to ask this question I think you know the answer already....Why would you think it is ok for your animal to run the subdivision going in garages, using peoples yards as their "facilities". I think this behavior is just plain rude on your part. have some consideration for others! Does this mean my dog can sh@@ in your yard???

Wow guys, thanks for the lecture. I'm not sure you understood the question clearly, I was really not asking anyone's opinion on whether or not my cat could or should be outside, just whether or not other people do it in Tradition. My cat is almost 10 years old and has been an indoor outdoor cat her entire life. She is vaccinated, frontlined, happy and healthy. We have lived in far more rural areas of florida than tradition and have never had a run in with a gator or a hawk, and my cat can handle a racoon just fine. She has litter box in my garage, and doesn't venture beyond our property except when she comes out to walk the dog with us If the majority of you are tradition residents, then I guess cat or no cat, I don't think our family would be happy living there.
