It might interest him to know that there is a growing group of property owners here who feel that special needs programs have become bloated, and that special needs children's "special needs" should be addressed by the parents who made those children and not the general public.

I also question the rational thinking process of anyone who joins a group and immediately starts to attack people and systems about which he obviously knows so little. Perhaps Wingman would reach a higher level of credibility if he used a spell checker before sending out criticisms.
Please forgive me for making anyone think I am looking to exploit the resources of this state.
I am only trying to insure all students who are unable to vote, and speak for themselves a decent education in a state where all citizens should know the only way out of poverty (and subsequent public aid truly straining even reciepients), is through quality education.

As far as looking to "move to Maine for there fantastic and liberal" primary and secondary education system, I currently own outright, several homes throughout Maine, and New England. I pay a hefty tax bill that I would deem gives me a say so as to how these taxes are spent. The fact I have to defend to you or anyone why or how come I try to advocate for all childrens educational needs only highlights your own ignorance.
I have worked extremely hard to achieve what I have.
Started at 17 with a hot dog cart on the beach in Miami, hustling dogs and burgers. I scrimped and saved every dollar to end up owning several restuarants, bars, nightclubs from Maine to Florida.
Also I make no apologies for typos, or the hurt feelings you may indulge, having to see a young child recieve a quality education and become a far greater success than you or I.
Sincerely

Two of my grandparents taught in one room grammar schools in the 1920s.

No public funded education was guaranteed by our nation.

No taxes were collected in America to support a nationwide system of schools.

The parents of children who wished their children to be educated up to the sixth grade, paid for the school and teachers.

I am wary of anyone who wants to start listing 'birth-rights' to be paid from our tax dollars.

Could you possibly rein in all those communist ideals?

You are in America.
No, you are living in a mind set typical of the Confederate States of America. If you'd had a good education, you would know that one didn't work out so well.

Hmm?

I am not from the former Confederacy, I was educated in the public-funded schools of California.

Now why would you wish to assume that I was a Southerner?

Moxie,
I would get in touch with child development services here in portland. i can't speak to the educational aspect since we home school but cds will be able to point you in the right direction in terms of therapists (speech, etc.), doctors and practitioners and good educational choices for a special needs child. They've been extremely helpful to our family (we have a 2year old with autism and epilepsy).

Good luck!
