I'd like to hike the Prouts Neck Cliff Walk next week with a friend. A few months ago we drove around Prouts Neck a bit, but couldn't figure out how to access the trail. How do you get to it? Do you have to access it from the Black Point Inn?

It's actually quite simple it's just not well marked. You can park at the Black Point Inn's parking lot and access the trail right across the street (there's a small sign marking the entrance). The Inn has no problem with people doing that. In fact, if you go inside to the front desk, they'll give you a map of the trail. My girlfriend worked at the BPI for a few years before her move, we did it from time to time. It is pretty. Go at sunset on a clear day and you can even see Mt. Washington, NH in the distance. It's amazing how close it looks.

Thank you! Maybe we'll do lunch afterwards at the Inn.

We hiked the Prouts Neck Cliff trail today. It's a great little walk, about a mile and half, with fabulous views of Saco Bay and chiseled granite cliffs and outcroppings.

You now need to buy a $10 parking pass at the Black Point Inn to park in the lot. The $10 will be returned to you if you eat or have a drink in the restaurant, which I highly recommend. We had a delicious lunch on the deck with views of Old Orchard Beach.
