Did anyone read How To Eat Fried Worms? Maybe there's a recipe in the book!

Robin, who'll sing but isn't eating worms

It's cheaper to prevent the birth of babies that one can't afford than it is to support the babies and their mothers on welfare after the baby is born. I'm not saying one way is right or wrong, but contraceptiion being paid for by tax dollars is the cheaper of these 2 alternatives. In the perfect world, 11 year olds wouldn't be having sex. That's way too young. But it's impossible to completely control. The best of parents have kids that stray and the worst of parents do too. This is a real difficult situation and one that ideally wouldn't exist...but it does.

Who is the mad genius who says taxpayers are obligated to support some girl and her offspring for 18+ years?
I used to work in a disaster-area middle school. Many of the girls there were happy and proud to get pregnant. It was speshul. Someone to love, don't ya know?
Needless to say, their adventures in parenting tended to go as successfully as their mothers'=grammaw gets three to six kids to raise. No pun intended, but this makes for a fertile recruiting pool for the local gangstas seeking wayward youts.

Offer no welfare incentive for these pregnancies. Offer adoption services.
That at least doesn't insult and assault law-abiding, tax-paying citizens by forcing them to support anti-social behavior in others.

This is about far more than money. It's about attempting to put the brakes on the decline of a great civilization..

How about children's chastity belts? They could probably be designed so that they are much more comfortable than the adult versions of the Middle Ages.

The teaching of discipline/self-discipline and personal responsibility would go so much further in so many more ways. Unfortunately, too many generations of laxity have rendered this issue rather complex.

The "free love" generation, the "me" generation and the era of "it's not my fault" have taken their toll.

Maybe chastity belts could be an interim step towards returning to the "teaching of discipline/self-discipline and personal responsibility". In fact, I bet the transition might occur more rapidly than one might initially think! "It's your 10th birthday honey - Happy Birthday! - now put these on."

While the idea is at first intruiging, I have to wonder if it would not encourage more "fetish" oriented sexuality...not that that's necessarily a "bad" thing, but it would be a little soon to be putting them on *that* road. (Not that some don't get on that path anyway, more than one might imagine...at least according to some reading on Psychology that I've been doing lately.)

Aside from that, kids can be rather ingenious when it comes to finding ways to do what they've been forbidden.

Now that you've got me thinking about it...science has come a long way, what with the inventions of Viagra, Cialis, and others. Surely they must have come up with things that work the opposite?

Here kid, eat your vitamin.

Always without judgement. We cannot tell the little dears that ANY behavior is wrong.

Oh, wait, drawing a picture of a gun is punishable without recourse.

No tolerance for drawings, or plastic butter knives.

Infinite tolerance for underage sex.

What a fascinating society public schools are creating!

Perhaps alot of the blame lies with the media - movies, videogames and magazines and not just with the public school??
