I sent you a Direct Message to share my experience as someone who recently relocated to the Portland area. All positive impressions. Good Luck.

We are relocating from Scotland and have recently returned from a house hunting trip. We found everyone we met to be friendly and very welcoming. We did not go to Brunswick but did check and the schools are very good in Brunswick. Portland has several good schools but you will need to check the catchment to see which one is the designated school for that area. Either town is probably a winner but you will probably need to buy a warmer coat for the Maine winters.
