Default Dog Friendly Apartment!

I am desperate. I have been searching forever for an apartment in Portland that takes dogs. Does anyone know of any? Hopefully under a grand?!

I'd appreciate your help....

When I was planning my move to Maine, I started a thread about finding an apartment that would accept dogs, as a transitional step in finding a house. It didn't end up that I needed it........but there was some good info that might be helpful to you. The thread link is: Renting with dogs Good Luck.

We just moved into Back Bay Tower and they take dogs - big ones! I expected to see mostly little critters but the majority of dogs I've seen are large. I don't know how big an apt you need. The rents aren't cheap. There is a monthly fee of (I think) $25.00 for each dog. I didn't know Portland was so dog-friendly until I got here. We have a cat.

We thought we might have to rent for a few months and we have two Saint Bernards (we are relocating from Scotland to the Portland area). The post by ibcherokee was the place we found searching the internet, but I think their fee was a wee bit higher when we checked with them. Good luck in finding a place.

I just want to clarify -- I may have a job opp there, and have a cat and a dog - the dog is 11 mos, still a pup, but only 45 pounds.
