Central Maine. when you leave I-95 N in Newport, make a left and follow the Moosehead Trail (Rt. 7 N). Watch for eyes on the side of the road, deer gathering in fields at dusk (or running across the road in front of you!), a dark mass/hulk: that'll be a moose. Their eyes don't reflect and they're basically stupid. You DO NOT want to run into it. They'll stand in the middle of the road and at night they're hard to see. Use caution. But, it's all SO worth it.

The first time I ever went to Portland, we got stuck in a traffic jam caused by a porcupine crossing the road.

I got a nice deer hanging in the barn!
The lady who runs the local variety store hit a moose last week totaling her Explorer. Luckily she and her kids were ok. They need a new truck but gained 250 lbs of good moose meat!

I'm still trying. Work gets in the way. Two deer nearby have been hit by cars this week. Thankfully no one was hurt. I saw two moose Tuesday night.

I forgot a couple... beaver and fox! Although I guess most people would TRAP beaver. I wonder if there are that many trappers left? Anyone know?
