Hi everyone!!

Looking for some input from the "experts". I have been following these forums for about a year now - since our discussion on moving to Maine began. Well - I am here - living in Scarborough - only for a week so far!! Love it already as I have on previous "scouting" trips

My mom is here visiting and I am wondering where I should take her for a good lobster roll.....due to our scheduling - i am either going to take her to the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth or the Portland Lobster Company. Which of these two do you think offers a better lobster roll?

Thank you!!

I vote for South Freeport !

Haraseeket Restaurant ( on the pier, not the fancy downtown Inn/restaurant)

Make the time- it beats the other two hands down!

Agreed! Harraseeket is really good. I might also suggest the fresh haddock sandwich at Harraseekett as well. It's more fish than in their haddock dinner, on a roll with cheese and tartar sauce. It is excellent!

Never been to the Portland Lobster Co but the LS at 2 Lights has such spectacular scenery so I would go there.

+1 to this...I also think Portland Lobster co has a more touristy feel, and that the Lobster Shack seems like the place where the locals would go (although its got plenty of tourists that go there!).

Default Agree with the others...

I concur with the previous posts. Go to the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth. Much better scenery, especially for someone from "away". If you're planning on going at the end of this week or weekend, when the temperature and humidity is expected to go up again, then this visit will be quite refreshing!

Default Portland Lobster Company Hands Down!

Having lived in Portland for several years and sampled both restaurants a number of times, I would recommend the Portland Lobster Company "hands down" for a number of reasons starting with their food. First, their food is better all the way around and their deck in the Old Port has the best view and atmosphere in town. I have had dozens of lobster rolls from up and down the New England coast and their lobster roll ranks right at the top of the list. They have great live music everyday and a large selection of locally brewed beers. Finally, the place is extremely clean for a casual dining establishment; this is not your typical "dive" lobster shack.
