My wife and I are going to me moving to Maine in 09. MY wife grew up in Maine and We want to raise our daughter in near her grandparents (they live in Saco) and be settled in before she starts school. I am looking for advice as to where a nice gay friendly sections are near Saco to Portland area. Actually any ideas of what we can do gay and none gay for family fun. We come to Maine often but spend the time with the grandparents and not doing much.

Thanks
Dee

Welcome to the forum and good luck in the search for your new home!
Portland is a cool little city, and the surrounding area is pretty much progressive in it's collective thinking as well as culture, art and various activities.
You, your wife and daughter could spend a fun afternoon at the Chidren's Museum in Portland, it's right next to the Art Museum.

Here's one of many sites for activities and events in Maine.

We live on Munjoy Hill in Portland. It is a very friendly community that may suit you. The house we bought was owned by a lesbian couple. They wanted a smaller place (we needed a house for 9) but they loved the neighborhood and moved just a few blocks away. I like the schools here a lot so far.

You didn't mention your daughter's age but for our little ones we have had no problem finding things to do. We have a few playgroups and storytimes in walking distance. The Children's Museum is fantastic. We are going to join the Y soon which seems like a great place too. The outdoor opportunities are endless too.
