I am gay and I am "out" and feel perfectly comfortable and welcomed in my small town outside of Portland, and feel comfortable in Portland and vacinity and particularly welcomed in my church community.... . I have never wanted to live in a gay ghetto (like Hill Crest in San Diego or the Castro District in San Francisco) and am a pretty reserved person (and boardering on elderly LOL) .... so public displays of affection are not my thing....and I am more often offended by semi nudity and PDA among the straights than I am aware of gay couples as I go about my daily business.

All in all.....I think Portland has a good balance of diversity representing various orientations, lifestyles and even ethnicity and racial mix....and is welcoming and tolerant community. There is little to offend or to be offensive about.

Live and let live.

WOW. I agree with others that this quote itself is very telling and that this does not reflect a "live and let live" view of the world. I don't think you'll be very happy in the Portland area. I am not gay, but there's a few people at my company that I'm pretty sure are, but it makes not one iota of difference to me or anyone else there. If you are constantly going to be wondering and worrying about about this, I think you should find a different place to go, stay away from New England, and California. It's not that people are "more gay" here, it's just that those people who even care enough to ask the question don't live here (or aren't happy here).

I guess it does....I'll admit I'm being intolerant...

I'm being intolerant of ignorance...and I don't see that as a bad thing!
I am ignorant because I don't agree with an absolute moron like yourself?

Ahhh shucks, I guess I am ignorant then

So name calling is your idea of "well reasoned debate" ...impressive!

Care to take another stab at my previous question of why your view of homosexuality is anything other than intolerant and ignorant?

Please, you care enough to post and call me names like a child, tell me why I'm wrong...thanks.
