Thanks for that link, genmom! I've printed their list so we can use it to explore since we're newcomers.

I don't know how Becky's Diner made the breakfast list and the Brea Lu Cafe and Buyou Kitchen didn't...and also it's impossible for a dinner list not to include the Front Room. Not to be picky but it seems the list was made up by tourists, not locals.

I think Andrew Knoulton as the restaurant editor for Bon Appetit Magazine did his job - he visited, tasted, experienced, reviewed and selected many restaurants all over the country and then called out Portland, Maine for high honor from one of the most prominent food magazines in the world. You don't have to agree with the list and there are probably many that could be added - but Bon Appetit is - well, it's Bon Appetit. Be happy for Portland!

He said in his blog that he was coming up for one more weekend. I suggested Silly's in a comment.

I think it's one of the better assessments of Portland's place as a "foodie" town I've seen to date. They make no false claims about Portland being comparable to the biggest/best cities in the country without devaluing Portland's distinct claim to being one of the better "foodie" small towns in the U.S. I think it was accurate and very well done.
