Default Help with moving to Portland

Hello, I think I came to the right place for some help! My husband and I are considering moving to Portland from a small town called Lake Harmony in PA. Checking out some of the houses for sale, Portland is slightly out of our price range.

My husband is a extremely talented chef so we have heard Portland is the place to work. Any suburbs that are family friendly, safe, good schools outside Portland but still within a reasonable commute? We have an 18 month old daughter, so making sure we are someone safe and fun for her is important.

We will be taking a trip when we get more information, anyone have any idea on how the job market is around there and average salary for chefs?

Hello Samantha4408 and welcome to the Portland forum. There are several communities 30-45 minutes away from downtown Portland where the average single family home price is somewhat lower than Portland itself. Congratulations on your daughter, ours is almost 3 and more fun every day.
