Yeah, we are only one year into our tax credit. We were living in Gorham in our mother in law's rental. We wanted the pride of home ownership. I complained about the cold quite a bit, but the heat is no better, and possibly worse.
I know that my husband hates the idea of paying the money back, but I figured if I could make a bit of a profit on the house, it would balance itself out.
I am coming to Maine in 3 weeks (cant wait!!!) to visit. Hope the visit gets it out of my system for a while.
Lovemaine, we are in Clayton and our neighborhood seems to sell homes quickly. We have done a lot to the place since we bought it as well.
I may try to get some comps to see how things are selling.

When we moved to NC, we looked at houses in Clayton too. We almost had one built in Flowers Plantation, but DH's commute would have been too far.

I agree with you, the heat is harder to deal with than the cold. It's easy to add layers if you're cold, but you can only take so much off when in public. Plus that NC humidity gets to you no matter how little you wear. When you start sweating as soon as you step out of the shower in an air-conditioned house, you know it's too much!

Hope you have a good trip back to Maine!

I grew up in Biddeford, relocated to Gorham when I got married.

I have been livng in North Carolina specifically Greensboro area all of my 21 yrs. I went to visist Portland Maine in March 2010. I feel head over heels in love with the town. It was nice to see that people are actually active outside. You do not see it where I live. I was suprized how dog friendly Portland is. I have an American Chihuahua named Mr. French. A dog is allowed to go into stores and even the bank that is next to the resturant portland lobster company. FYI the resturant had the best lobster roll ever. The prices you would pay for seafood is the same as Red Lobster in NC but it is alot fresher. I plan on moving to Portland sometime soon as soon as I find a job. I tell my self I am a born again new englander! Good Luck to you.
