I always thought Westmoreland was north of Bybee, anything south was Sellwood. My mother was born in and grew up in Westmoreland proper (as in one block from Llewellyn School). As a side note, she recently passed away at 86.5 years old, and still kept in touch with her kindergarten classmates from Llewellyn School. There were 6 left until she passed away. An era gone by. What's nice is that Westmoreland has gentrified with many homes updated while being historically preserved.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I lost mine last Thanksgiving. She was just short of her 92nd b'day. That's great that your mom kept in touch with friends from kindergarten throughout her life. Actually it's amazing. My mother had friends from high school & college she always kept in touch with.
The first 3 years of my life we lived on SE 11th & Tenino. My grandfather owned the Liepzig Tavern which was in that old building on the NW corner of Tacoma & 13th. That's the area I've always referred to as Sellwood. But I guess this is a bit off topic, huh.

I've seen that whole area referred to as simply "North of 26".

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure she was very proud of her daughter when she passed.

Of course people that live in the area are going to know where they're at. I understood this topic to be about people that don't know the area and what terms they use.

I lost the link, but there are a few websites that have images of old Oaks Park print collateral. A lot of them use both terms, Sellwood and Moreland. My mom (since we're on that topic) saved my first roller skating stub and I was sure it said Moreland on it as well. I'll look for the link.
