I had ATT back in the "Motorola brick" years of cell phones (I think they were one of maybe 3 companies who offered cell). Eventually I switched to Verizon because of bad reception in the hills I lived in. I like Verizon pretty well, but I'm not a heavy data user or smartphone user - I use my cell mostly for calls and texting.

Thanks a lot friends!

It seems that Verizon is the best.

I've had T-Mo, Cricket (for about 1 month), and Verizon, and Verizon is the best, hands down. The most expensive, but the best in terms of coverage, no dropped calls, and call clarity.

Went from T-Mob to Sprint. I travel a lot. Got tired of hugging street lamps to get one more bar in the Southern states.

Back when I had my iPhone I would suffer from poor service and dropped calls all the time, especially in the hills. I refused to renew my contract with AT&T once it expired and (reluctantly) went iPhone-less so I could go back to Verizon. There is only one place where my service drops out and that is (oddly) Burnside Road near the cemetery. It does it every time without fail.

Verizon is completely useless in council crest park area. If your provider doesn't offer free trial period, get a prepaid one and try out in the area you intend to use frequently. You get like full signal, but as soon as you make/receive a call, it fades and drops.

I was with AT&T in Florida and have just kept it here in Portland. Also, regarding coverage in out-of-the-way places, AT&T kept us covered on the entire drive from Florida to Portland, even when we had to take some detours. No need for me to change!

We've had Verizon cellular for many years with a short time with AT&T (lots of no-signal dead spots and poor customer service). Verizon really works to eliminate dead & poor signal reception, just let them know and they put it on their to-do list. We just use the cell phone for voice, use the friends & family feature lots.

The ****-poor customer service was the main reason I left AT&T and will never go back. I kept having trouble with my Edge network service cutting in and out and I called to find out if there was a problem. You know what she told me? "Sometimes it does that."

That just sent me over the edge. No crap sometimes it does that! It fails to work more often than it does work.

Good to know. I'm in Pittsburgh now and despise Sprint. Coverage has been shoddy when I vivit Portland and I will be moving there in the fall. Looks like I'm going back to Verizon...
