So i am pretty new to this site and found it when i was researching moving to OR.

I live in the United Kingdom and am currently 16. I don't plan on moving to the US until i get all my qualifications, at about 21. I plan on becoming Cabin Crew. I have looking into moving to somewhere like Astoria, but i don't think it would work for me. I would like to live in the Portland or surrounding area. Just because of Portland Airport and all that!
Let me know if i am talking complete rubbish, i want you guys to help me get more information on the state.

I have family over there. It's not imediate family, like mum or dad, but she is my 1st cousin. She lives in the Hillsboro area and has dome for 8 years now.

Now what i would like to know is any laws on immagration in OR that i should be aware about?

What area's are the best place to live?

Anything else i should really need to know?

Thanks
Amy.

And this is something i have thought about for a long time now, and know it is what i want to do!

Before you start thinking of what neighborhood would fit your style you need to get what is commonly called a "green card". That document is no longer green, but it is authorization to work in the United States. It used to be that the paper work was ignored with a nod & a wink, but no longer and is not easily obtained.

Your best bet would be to immigrate to BC where you will find a similar climate & lifestyle.

The 3 major cities in the Pacific Northwest of course are Vancouver, BC, Seattle WA and Portland OR. (Don't confuse Vancouver in Canada, with Vancouver in the State of Washington which is just north of Portland) My very limited knowledge would be Seattle would have the most flights taking off, and the most need for Aircraft Cabin Crew being home based there. (I presume your question relates to Commercial Aircraft crew, as opposed to passenger ships.)

The rumor is yes, all three cities have weather not far from London, or maybe Manchester, UK. So, I therefore ask, Why not try to go for San Francisco Airport which is even bigger, and a much more vibrant communities all around the Bay area for a young woman. Plus, a lot more sunshine than the PNW, albeit still a mild climate.

I for one would welcome you to Portland, but please make you choice on the Left Coast of USA to be the best place to make your home base for your job as a cabin crew.

Phil

You do not want to move to Astoria ! In fact, you probably don't want to live anywhere else in Oregon except for Portland.

Portland is a nice small city with a lot to offer. The airport is small, convenient, and on the MAX line.
