When one thinks of the beach, they think of warm water swimming. Lots of water sports. The coast has sand but its more of a place to walk along. Alot of times there are large rock formations. Its cool most of the time. Ture there is a "Beach", but people just don't say "hey lets go to the beach" around here. The water is much too cold unless you wear a wet suit. IT very romantic. Cannon beach is my favorite. We like to stay at bed and breakfast spots there.

LOL. I was a little skeptical about the climate untill I got up here. While sometimes it IS a little cloudy, mostly it has been beautiful. Not too hot, not too cold, plenty of sun but some rain mixing in as well. Today is a perfect day, bright sunshine 80 degrees with a cool breeze. Magnificent!

In a nutshell, that's Oregon weather. It's never too hot nor too cold for any length of time. When you read the forecast, one can be sure that the weather will often change and be more mild than the forecast.

The Oregon coast is incredibly beautiful on a summer day.

"Cannon beach is my favorite." See, it's called "beach" hehe. No honestly, I see what you mean. I just pictured a beach a place with sand and ocean. Coming from California, I still have to call it that,,,sorry.

well I have to admit, I don't know "exactly why it called the "coast" but we can tell your from cali if you call it the "beach". Good point about Cannon Beach. Im moving from back to Oregon or Wa from Texas and the "Coast/Beach" is a very strong reason. I boarder on depressed when I thought I would never see those trees and mountains. That coast (beach) put me over the top.

Yeah we have so many beaches in California, it's hard to refer as anything else. What part of Texas are you in? Our friends recently moved to McKinney (suburb of Dallas) and they just love it! They are trying to get us out there, but like you, I cannot live without the trees, mountains, hills, and beaches,,,Um, I mean coast. I am totally with ya!!

Im holed up in Austin....Don't do it, I mean the Texas move. Its Horrible. Dallas is flat, the coast is the Gulf with is a very very long drive, and an ugly one at that. Miles and miles of flat bla bla. Damn good Mexican food though.

Looking forward to staying at a place called Stephanie Inn at Cannon Beach. You should check it out. Real nice, just google it.

No, I won't make that move. I do think Austin is one of the nicest places in Texas though. Isn't it the nations capital for bats?

I did hear lots of wonderful things about Cannon beach! I will check out that Inn, sounds great! Thanks for the tip.

Oh...just rain a little on the "Portland's great parade", the commuting traffic in Portland is getting to be brutal. No, it's not LA, Seattle, Bay Area or Washington DC, but it's gotten way worse than the "good ol" days of the 1990s. I even hit slow traffic at 8:00 pm on I-5 today. Sheesh! At least I could see Mt. St. Helens from the freeway once I was in Washington.
