I need to ask, how come a friend of mine who lives near the intersection of Highway 26 and Highway 217 has a Portland address when he clearly lives in Washington County and frankly what looks like Beaverton to me?

Yeah but that's not a small section if you know what I mean. PCC Rock Creek has a Portland address yet is on 185th. See what I mean?

This kind of thing happens all the time. I live in unincorporated Clark County, but my address reads "Vancouver, WA 98xxx". When I was in high school my best friend lived in unincorporated Multnomah County and his address was "Portland, OR" (that house has since been annexed by Portland).

You don't have to live within the city limits to have the city name in your address.

Beaverton has a website which will direct you to services here in WA County. Beaverton School District(BSD) has a good website. Beaverton is located eight miles from Downtown Portland to the West. I can get to downtown without taking the freeway in 20 minutes in non peak driving times.

That area is likely unincorporated Washington County with the mail being serviced by a Portland Post Office branch. But there are some Beaverton jurisdictions whose mail is still being serviced by Portland, even after annexation back in the 90's.

For that particular area, if I recall it's not just mail, it's emergency services, etc.

I lived in Cedar Mill for quite awhile and it was always that way in 97229 area code. I thought it was cool having a Portland address.
