Went to a concert of the Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra on Friday nite (3/18/11) in a church near the MAX Light Rail stop at Goose Hollow. First full orchestra piece was a new symphonic piece from a young local composer.

The kid was born in 1991; After, yes after, the 1st Gulf War ended.

I enjoyed the music, but just felt old.

A link to the composer:

If it makes you feel any better Phil, I enjoy this music...

...and that "baby" is currently ALMOST TWENTY.

In fact here's a link to an interview (includes audio) in which he jokes about what it's like to be a teenager and know every girl you meet probably already has a nude photo of you at home.

He missed out on the first Gulf War but not the two succeeding U.S. wars against Muslim nations. He also got to see a President reset our relationship with those nations and win a Nobel Peace Prize.

IMPORTANT EDIT: Newsflash!! Newsflash!! 122 U.S. Tomahawk missiles fired into Libya. Operation Odyssey Dawn commences!! Repeat: Operation Odyssey Dawn commences!!

Make that three U.S. wars against Muslim nations.

But the kid's music is still worth listening to. I wish there was a link I could post to share it, but too new for any recording.
