Stolen backpack, need advise (vacation, car, parking)

The backpack that pretty much contains my whole life just got stolen out of my friend's car....... It's pretty devastating. I already filed a police report....... But just wondering if there's anything else I should do that could improve the chance of getting it back...... Thanks

Put an add on Craigslist.

Other then that, not much you can do. I feel for you though, I've had two cameras stolen out of my car. The first one had some once in a lifetime vacation photos on it. The second one had pictures of my grandmother on her death bed, and my uncle two weeks before he died.

Worse part, I've even got video from the security system showing the person stealing the second camera. And the Police didn't even bother to take a copy of it.

If you know you will be parking a car put your precious things in the trunk before you start your trip. What thieves don't see they aren't likely to find and steal. This is true EVERYWHERE.

Sorry about your loss. Sometimes if you check trash bins in a 2-3 block radius you can find whatever the thief didn't want.
