Can someone please tell me...why?

I know there are tons nice people, and bless their hearts, I appreciate them. But there are tons nasty, passive aggressors. Why? This place can be so much happier if we were not so passive agressive. Why Portland? Why so angry?

I honestly think it's the economy. People in general seem to be less friendly.

I doubt that as a percentage of the population Portland is no different than any other town. That said, ... I guess I should not say what I am thinking

A passive aggressive person is not necessarily any more angry than others. They just express it indirectly rather than directly. In cultures like Portland where people are nice and laid back, direct expressions of anger are not accepted, so sometimes people resort to dysfunctional passive aggressive patterns instead.

What the Leaguer said.
I am a native Portlander, and this has always been a Portland trait.
It may seem like not so much lately, with all the new people coming to Portland.
Do a search on passive aggressiveness, this has been discussed at length many times in the past.

Judging from your few posts on C-D, my question would be why are you so angry?

maybe I am angry...but I keep hearing how nice the people here in Portland are. This is discussion regarding Portland not me! The people not always nice, seem kind of angry, lot of passive agression every day often.

there's this sense in Portland that if you don't do things the way they see them, they will treat you like crap. They claim to be open minded liberals. But they are strict about their liberalism, etc. You gotta follow their rules!
