Default Single female, 39, is Portland the place for me?

Hi - Just wanted to get some input on whether or not Portland has any singles over 35? I'm a female, considering moving from the SF Bay Area but don't want to get someplace where there is no one to meet and nothing to do (but I'm tired of the Bay Area prices)! Any insight, input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You should be fine in Portland. It depends on what you're looking for and what it is that you like to do. There are plenty of singles, much like any city and the cost of living is lower than in California. I would rate Portland "moderately" priced with regard to cost of living. However, bare in mind that prices are going up and the city is becoming more gentrified with young "upscale" professionals. The city itself is known to be tolerant to greater individual expression and behavior that other cities/states may find unacceptable. It's a far cry from what I consider "liberal" but it's as libetral as it gets "in the U.S."

If you are in to the bar and dance club scene you'll fare well. If you're more liberal minded in to eating organinc, watching independent cinema and getting to know people over coffee and pastry there's that as well.

One of my best friends is a single now 40 year old female. We have this discussion all the time. Her take is there is A TON for singles to do in Portland. But there are way more twenty something singles than 30 -40 something singles. She sees the dating scene in this age group as some what bleak. But she's always been a little glass is half empty when it comes to relationships. So take that for what it's worth.
