I have some friends coming into town in a few short hours, and they've never been here before. They are only staying for the day. They are a married couple, both 25 years of age. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone could suggest some really great places to take younger out of towners? Walkable shopping neighborhoods, whatever. Thank you!

Ground Kontrol Arcade games and beer can't be beat.

Mississippi, Hawthorne area and Saturday Market are great for shopping.

Then be sure to hit up one of the multiple foodcart pods.

Awesome! I completely forgot about Ground Kontrol! As far as Mississippi goes, what are the streets that are walkable? We live downtown by NW 23rd, but I'm not too fond of the area really.

Great idea! Forest Park is beautiful. I often take for granted the natural beauty that we have in this state. She messaged me a few hours ago and said, "Wow, I can't believe how green and beautiful Oregon is!" They are from Southern California, so quite a different scenery down there.

Here is what I would do. Take a taxi to the Japanese Garden in Washington Park, wander down hill through the Rose Garden, work your way (downhill) and proceed east down Park Place. Turn left (north) at Vista Street, walk down to NW 23rd. Since you live on or near 23rd pick your favorite places to explore.

I grew up in Forest Park, knew all the trails and shortcuts - even some of the Hillside stairways, but you don't have enough time to hit more than the highlights. They can always come back again.
