Yeah, I guess you're right if you're starting as far east as Mt. Tabor (about 3.5 miles each way). If you start in the heart of Hawthorne--34th or so it's about 2.5 miles to downtown. I was thinking you were suggesting it was a 7 mile walk from the heart of Hawthorne to downtown (1 way!).

Yes, that would have been a nice hike! But only did the 15-20 milers in the Gorge (Eagle Pass). Not having a car had such benefits, i.e. staying trim and healthy.
