Thanks for answering my questions about Austin. I think I like it here so far more than Austin, but there are days where this changes. All in all, I am happier I came here despite any negatives. I hope you will continue continue to enjoy it here!

Anyone please fact check!
I checked Wikipedia, and you're right about their being introduced to Louisiana for fur. They escaped and have become a nuisance in many areas. The article says that their meat is lean and low in cholesterol, but attempts to promote them as a food source have been unsuccessful. Perhaps some enterprising soul will open a food cart in Portland and serve Grandma's Old-Fashioned Tualatin-Style Nutria Nuggets™.

So what you're saying is we need to train nutria to hunt beavers, and beavers to use nutria poop in dam building?

Beaver chew, nutria poop.
One of the last remaining truths in this world.

Undisputable statement.

I'll tell you what, I own two businesses in the Woodstock neighborhood.
I will instruct my employees to comp any purchase of any price to the next person that manages to work that phrase into a conversation with said employee.

I wll update this thread if it ever happens.
Preface that statement with "Nell told me that" as a secret password.
I will not tell my empoyees about that part, but my front counters are recorded so I will be able to verify!

They were imported to Oregon specifically because Beaver were becoming scarce. Unfortunately, the trade in Beaver fur died just as the Nutria were becoming established.

interestingly, South America is having a problem with Beaver for the exact same reason. 50 Canadian beavers were imported to start a fur trade in 1945. The fur trade never took off, now there are 200k beaver destroying an historical national forest and the government is looking to start an eradication program.

Maybe we can have an exchange program with South America: "We'll take your beavers if you take our nutria."
