So basically you're saying that in this situation it is nice to have a left hand passing lane, so this guy would only pass you on one side? I've heard they have those.......

These situations wouldn't crop up nearly as much as they do in OR if people did use the passing lane for passing, instead of all jumping in the left and middle lanes, going the same speeds, and leaving the rights lanes as the most open lanes on the road.

Perhaps you also need to pay attention more on the road and know when your exit is coming up, and be in the right lane earlier (which is actually where you should be anyway if you're getting passed).

You don't need a lot of space on residential streets to mark Model-A on each side and still have two way traffic. Or a horse, or carriage, or wagon.

When this happens, one person either stays at the intersection, or you pull over into someone's driveway. I've never had it be a real problem, the streets aren't long enough for it to be one.

All of these guys were traveling much faster than traffic (and the speed limit). They were weaving in and out to get around other cars in rush hour traffic. There was another lane to the left of me, but these speedsters took whatever gaps they could find.

Well maybe if we lived in a perfect world… You could say this about a myriad of issues including global climate change and the teaching of creationism in public schools.

Al Gore used bad science (believing that ice is a hermetic seal to CO2) and bad logic (affirming the consequent). The only thing we have proof of is that the sun has increased its output (causing global warming on other planets). Reducing CO2 emissions is not going to fix that.

Evolution as the origin of species also has no proof (or it would not still be called a "theory"). Only natural selection has been proved. The other two assumptions are not only untested, but they are untestable without a time machine (also untestable). Thus, Evolution should also not be taught in schools as being the origin of life. The people who demand that Evolution be taught are people who hate religion and want it to be proved false.

Again, politicians are allowed to control our lives in areas where they are not experts. It's not a matter of electing experts, it's a matter of prohibiting layman politicians from acting on things they have no training for.

And it is my belief that no person should be required to believe any teachings that contradict his religious beliefs. When it is a question of religious belief, politicians should be kept out of the debate.

What good is a lifetime of training in traffic engineering, if totally untrained politicians can overrule the proper course of action?

1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup sour cream (light ok)
