Default Working in Tigard

I'll be moving to the Portland area later this year, and have a job lined up in Tigard. I'm getting the impression that Tigard is quite suburban (which I definately want to avoid living in) and I would like to live in a more urban area. I do not, however, want to rely heavily on a car. So my question: Does any one know if Tigard is accessable through public transportation. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

They are currently putting in a commuter train line in downtown Tigard which will connect it to Beaverton (as well as Tualatin and Wilsonville). Currently the only public transportation directly in Tigard is the bus, but loads of people ride it regularly and it can take you to MAX stops...hope that helps some!
I moved to Tigard this summer from the midwest and just LOVE it!!

Thanks for the info. It's great to hear how committed the region is to expanding its train system. I'm from St. Louis, and although we have a decent lightrail system (relative to other similarly sized American cities) it seems like we're hitting a wall in terms of expanding it. Thanks again for the info on getting to Tigard.
