I'll try to be succinct:
  • Moving from Dallas
  • Working from home
  • Only me (male, no kids, no pets, no smoking)
  • I'm 43, but don't tell anybody!
  • Need at least a small private yard to grill and chill
  • VIEW would be nice as I'll be home most of the day
  • Prefer under $1200/month
  • Don't need a lot of square footage, will buy furniture upon arrival
  • Not a dreadlock person (not that there's anything wrong with that)
  • Less concrete more trees (so this means not in the Pearl, right?)
I've heard/read that SE/Hawthorne might fit the bill, but I don't know, there are so many nieghborhoods. If LO was closer/had a train/younger & singler women, that'd be an option.

Think decompression.

It's 108 outside my window right now.

Thanks.

For SE Hawthorne, the private yard may be a deal breaker. A one bedroom apartment without one will be around $1000 a month. There is a brand new building just completed at the end of my street that has large studios going for $1100-$1200.

Few apartment buildings in the area have yards. Mine is an exception with a large shared yard amongst three buildings owned by the same landlord. He just filled a vacancy. It only takes putting a sign out for an hour or two and apartments get rented right away.

A rental house in around Hawthorne Blvd if you can find one will cost more. But they are scarcer than hen's teeth. You actually may have better luck in LO and be closer to your co-workers. And there will be lots of trees.

How much space do you need to grill and chill? Would a patio or deck suffice? You may have more luck with that as your criteria.

I just need outdoor, private Breathing Room. I'm coming out of a house with a giant fenced backyard.

I just want to be able to cook and enjoy some privacy and feel the comfort of that space. Like, a small townhouse, with a little 10x10 foot yard would do. It's a charcoal thing....

There are a few newer townhouses in the Hawthorne Blvd area that would fit this description although I think they would have more of a patio than a little yard.

What you would have to do is scout around the neighborhood and see if any are for rent. I think most are owner-occupied.

This company had a couple of listings on Craig's List in the Hollywood area that might suit you.
