Does anyone out there have any first-hand experience with the Mount Angel Oktoberfest?

Mt. Angel Oktoberfest - Home

It's this weekend and looks pretty surprisingly authentic. I've never been (new to Portland) but we were thinking about checking it out. Especially if they have wiener dog races and master yodelers.

On a side note, can anyone suggest a good biking route from NE Portland to Mt. Angel? Google maps suggests something through Oregon City and Canby but I don't know anything about those roads.

Thanks!

Oktoberfest is always awesome. Be sure to check out the Glockenspiel in town.

There is also an Oktoberfest held at Oak's Park, but I think that's actually in October.

I just Googled the route and would recommend it. It'll be very scenic, fairly safe and fairly flat most of the way. The only thing I'd change would be to move over to McLoughlin BLVD and ride along the river through Oregon City. The jog that it takes you through Canby would be pretty scenic and avoids all the stop lights through there.

It is fun! Everytime we have gone its been a great time. Sometimes the heavy drinkers in the beer garden/tent can be annoying but its definitely fun to go to

One of my granddaughters will be there with her Girl Scout troop making and selling curly fries. If you go, be sure to help the Girl Scouts out by buying some. Thanks.
