I thoroughly checked this forum for information on the town Banks, but was unable to find any good information. Curious about what peopel think of the town. Is it a good place to raise a family? How are the schools? Any crime issues? Is it a doable commute if working in Hillsboro. Looking into Banks, because looking for a home with at least a half acre and away from congestion.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Your commute to and from Hillsboro would be easy. Banks is a small nice town with lots of farm and forest land, not much shopping or restaurants. Crime and school information can be found at this link.

Banks is a small farming town that has grown drastically due to the demand for houses. There is a large area of McMansions right next to train tracks that are busy at all hours. It's an OK commute to Hillsboro, depending on where in Hillsboro you need to go.

Other then that, it's pretty much a last stop before you head to the Coast or the "I told you to use the bathroom before we left!" "But I didn't NEED to go then!" arguments.

Banks has grown, yes, but it's people have also worked hard to prevent development from getting out of hand. People live there because they LIKE it small.

If you can enjoy a real quiet life in a small rural 'burb then I say GO FOR IT! Because one of it's benefits is being close enough to the coast and close enough to Portland for whatever you'd like to enjoy there, too.

I may be mistaken but I think it's Banks that does not have its own police department anymore; voters decided that the county services is sufficient. Property taxes are likely reasonable.
