I think the movement has also been infiltrated by some who they may not care for

I think that the populace of Portland and Oregon is getting pretty fed up with our mayor and his "core voter block".
Even if you don't live in Portland their decisions effect you.

I heard on the radio today the Sam's approval rate is below 40%.

I can't deny that Sam has done some very good things for this city.
We could have ended up like Gary, Indiana in this economic downturn, but Sam and his ilk kept Portland growing in some kind of direction at least.

I think this city is finally starting to "grow up" and realize that the "Goldschmidt dynasty" is dying, and we need new blood running this town.
Portland is not a small isolated PNW small city/town anymore, and we've grown enough that it's time to get real.

Yeah, pretty much. A lot of the old school Portlanders and transplants who've been here a while are starting to get fed up with the city government focusing on "boutique" issues--there's been too much dough spent on buzzwords like "sustainability" in favor of really focusing on maintaining good levels of public services(police, schools, roads) or successfully attracting new companies that will really bring the jobs that this reigon needs. When the economy was decent back in the middle part of the decade, there wasn't as much concern with the foibles of City Hall. I mean how much energy was wasted discussing whether Interstate should be renamed Cesar Chavez Blvd more than a few years back---in retrospect, wasn't there something else more important the City could've been focusing on?

From the following article:

Nearly half of polled Portland voters had unfavorable view of Mayor Sam Adams | OregonLive.com

Quote:
The poll, obtained by The Oregonian, also shows Portlanders are most concerned about jobs and the economy. Those voters said they would be far more likely to agree with a candidate who prioritizes creating jobs, improving the economy and focusing on core city services than a candidate who pushes for sustainability, bicycle transportation, equal rights, arts and culture.

I understand marching and protesting but camping out is just crazy unless your either.
1. Taken care of by family members and don't need to work to survive
Or
2. Homeless.

Me personally I'm not homeless and my parents are poor as are my grandparents so camping out is not an option for me. Its essential for my survival and my family that I get out of bed early and do whatever needs to be done to pay the bills. I think the cause is noble and right, but I simply don't have time to take part in it unless I want to lose my home.

I envy people that choose to camp out and protest and are not forced because if I were to do that it would become a permanent lifestyle change for me and I would have to continue camping out long after the movement ends.
Jaja, there are plenty of upper-middle class families in and around Portland, but I'll eat my hat if anyone from Portland has a trust fund.

I don't think being able to occupy is a sign that you're rich at all, it's a sign that you were in a temporary home pre-occupation! Then you found out you could jump ship and get free rent w/a pretty well guarded tent-city & smoke weed every day! Good for the people still out there!

Occupier of the Day: Leah Miller

And my wife's God Mother certainly had one. Would you like butter and salt with that?

People keep saying that, but I've yet to actually meet anyone who is a member of the Communist Party or even claims to be a Communist (or Socialist, even though they're world's apart,) in their beliefs.

Do you have any proof to back this up?
