and no i am not kidding. large groups of people can not be trusted. herd mentality takes over and normally nice people will do the same negative things as everyone else in the group. once one sheep starts running the rest will fallow.
Okaaaay. Interesting interpretation. Leaves me speechless, actually.

Why would you have enjoyed seeing the protesters get hurt? Do you consider yourself peaceful?

Unfortunately things have heated up this afternoon. Quite a standoff going on right now. Tensions are running high. Hope it gets resolved without violence. I wish these protesters would realize that the police are also 99%ers and just doing their job enforcing the law.

All in all, this is pretty tame stuff compared to the Vietnam-era protests, and for that we should all be thankful.

From the outside looking in, I really think what goes down/is going down in Portland will be a litmus test for this whole movement.

I doubt it. The rest of the nation really doesn't cares about what goes on in Portland.

well what happend there yesterday made the front page of the USA Today, got my attention here on the East Coast. I think the turn of events happening in Oakland seem a bit more signifigant. What I'm wondering is why they arn't all in DC?

I don't think that's true. Like the poster said above me, this has become major news in several outlets. I know that at least I have an image of Portland as a model city for the 21st century (and yes, I've been there, studied the growth patterns in college, etc.). It just seems that the situation in Portland is somehow more significant than the one in Oakland. The nation hears enough about protests in the Bay Area to take everything that happens there with a grain of salt.

I think the Nation is watching. My friend who lives in Virginia e-mailed me to ask "What is going on with the Occupy Portland situation? " She saw something on CNN about it.
